Hops & Vines is Christie Clancy (vocals) and Jonathan McVerry (guitar and vocals).  A little about us:

Christie: I've been singing, basically, my whole life. I used to bang on our piano at home and attempt to play a guitar. I'd play any instrument you put in front of me. I didn't say I'd play it well.

My family had eclectic taste in music, so I grew up listening to artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Patsy Cline, Glen Miller Orchestra, and Conway Twitty. Throw in some classic rock, pop, and blues, that was my household. My biggest influences are Ann Wilson (Heart), Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, and Springsteen.

I "borrowed" my brother's Springsteen box set and never returned it (sorry, Paulie!). And had a tendency to "borrow" my sister's tapes as well. Hmm, I guess I was a cassette-klepto! It's ok, I don't have a boombox anymore, so no need to hide your music. I remember how much I loved being able to pick out a new 45 when I'd go shopping w/ my parents. The Bangles, Wham, ABC (why, yes, i do love the 80's, why do you ask?) spinning on my Michael Jackson record player. I wore out Billy Vera and the Beaters on that machine.

I love working with Jonathan.  He's a great guitar player who has a pure love of music. And, he's not wincing so much anymore when I bring 80's songs to the table.

Jonathan: The first CD I ever got was the Aladdin Soundtrack. And the rest is history....

Let me try that again. My second CD was Shaquille O'Neal's platinum-selling album, "Shaq Diesel." (It went platinum. Seriously.)...

Take 3... Nirvana's "Bleach" was lined up to be my third CD, but the record shop didn't have it. I bought Pearl Jam's "Ten" instead, and that (for real this time) set the stage for a lifetime of musical influence and fandom. Over the past 20 years, my interests have expanded, and now include classic rock, punk, folk, bluegrass, techno, and Shaq's last three albums (Seriously. There's four of them). I've been writing songs for almost 20 years. I play the guitar, and dabble with the bass, piano, and ukulele. I also try to sing. Outside of Pearl Jam, my influences are REM, Queen, Josh Ritter, Barnstar, Bob Dylan, Pendulum, and Shaquille O'Neal.

I am very lucky to have the opportunity to play music Christie can wail to. I love playing live music, seeing people dancing/singing along, learning new tunes, and going new places. I've also taught myself to hold in my winces when 80's music is brought to the table.
