I've been singing, basically, my whole life. I used to bang on our piano at home and attempt to play a guitar. I'd play any instrument you put in front of me. I didn't say I'd play it well.

My family had eclectic taste in music, so I grew up listening to artists like Stevie Ray Vaughn, Patsy Cline, Glen Miller Orchestra, and Conway Twitty. Throw in some classic rock, pop, and blues, that was my household. My biggest influences are Ann Wilson (Heart), Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin, The Beatles, and Springsteen.

 

I "borrowed" my brother's Springsteen box set and never returned it (sorry, Paulie!). And had a tendency to "borrow" my sister's tapes as well. Hmm, I guess I was a cassette-klepto! It's ok, I don't have a boombox anymore, so no need to hide your music. I remember how much I loved being able to pick out a new 45 when I'd go shopping w/ my parents. The Bangles, Wham, ABC (why, yes, i do love the 80's, why do you ask?) spinning on my Michael Jackson record player. I wore out Billy Vera and the Beaters on that machine.

 

I love working with Jonathan.  He's a great guitar player who has a pure love of music. And, he's not wincing so much anymore when I bring 80's songs to the table.
